Empty classroom bathed in sunlight.
Empty classroom bathed in sunlight.

As educators, we teach reading, mathematics, science, history, and writing. Yet alongside every academic lesson comes something even more important: modeling faith, character, compassion, integrity, and hope.

Students may forget the details of a lesson years from now, but they rarely forget how a teacher made them feel.

They remember who believed in them.

Who prayed for them.

Who showed patience when they made mistakes.

Who reminded them that they were created in God's image and deeply loved.

In today's world, many children carry burdens they cannot express. Some arrive at school needing encouragement more than instruction. Others simply need a safe place where they are seen, heard, and valued.

That is one of the beautiful callings of Christian education.

As another school year ends, it is worth remembering that success cannot always be measured by report cards or standardized tests.

Sometimes success looks like:

  • A student choosing kindness.

  • A family growing closer to Christ.

  • A child discovering confidence through encouragement.

  • A prayer answered quietly over the course of a school year.

For those of us who have dedicated our lives to Christian education, we know that the work extends far beyond academics.

We are helping shape hearts as well as minds.

As summer begins, may we celebrate what God has done in our classrooms this year.

May we trust Him with the seeds we've planted.

And may we return in the fall refreshed, renewed, and ready to continue serving the next generation with wisdom, grace, and unwavering faith.

"For we are God's fellow workers..." (1 Corinthians 3:9)

What a privilege it is to serve together in His vineyard.
