A Practice for Staying in "Learning Mode":

  1. End each week with one question:
What did I discover about teaching—or about myself—this week?
Write it down. Even one sentence. Over time, you'll build a portfolio of your evolution.

  2. Ask for feedback from students, even the young ones.
Simple prompts like: What helps you learn in our class? or What should we try more of? can open doors to new insights.

  3. Celebrate imperfection.
Growth mindset isn’t about “getting it right”—it’s about staying in the work even when it’s messy.

  4. Find your teacher tribe.
Whether online or in your school, surround yourself with fellow educators who believe in growth, too. It’s easier to stay inspired when you're not doing it alone.

You are not just teaching content—you are teaching possibility.
And every time you grow, you quietly give your students permission to do the same.

So keep going. Keep learning. Keep becoming.
You’re not done yet—and that’s the most exciting part.

With deep respect and encouragement,
-Shannan
